"Once you have some promising way to use the forest, it's very important to spread that far and wide so people understand here is something that works, and here is something that
works economically."

Dr. Thomas Lovejoy

   About Title

The Tropical Forest Foundation recognizes companies that can verify legality and demonstrate a standard of forest management that qualifies under the TFF RIL Standard. The TFF Standard for Reduced Impact Logging sets a RIL standard and a transparent system for verifying compliance with the standard.

About Title

Companies committed to and well underway toward achieving the level of forest practices required by the TFF RIL Standard may be identified as RIL Verified®. This mark, granted by TFF, not only verifies legality and chain of custody, it also verifies compliance with a specific forest management standard indicating adoption of RIL as defined by TFF. An audit will verify legality and the existence of a credible chain-of-custody system. The same (or an additional) audit will also verify compliance with the TFF RIL Standard.

About Title

A TFF Legal Verified with Chain of Custody (CoC) label can be granted by TFF when a company meets minimum entry level requirements – including a third-party verification of legality and CoC systems, and an action plan to implement RIL. In this case, the company will have a TFF approved label that relates only to the legality and CoC issue.

The TFF RIL Standard for Reduced Impact Logging was approved and adopted by the TFF Board of Directors in October 2006, and published in June 2007.
